Welcome to Georgetown University
program The Georgetown in Madrid program has made it to Facebook! Find it under the Student Group name: Georgetown Vive Madrid: Alumnos y Amigos Georgetown holds university agreements with some of the most prestigious universities in Madrid, Spain: the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and as of Spring 2009, the Universidad Pontifica de Comillas. Participants choose the Spanish university of affiliation (UAM, UCM, UPCO) and directly matriculate in the regular courses offered at these institutions. Regardless of the Spanish University choice, the GU students participate together in the complementary aspects of the program, such as the many cultural activities we sponsor. Students may participate for the Full academic year, the Spring semester and soon, Fall only options will also be available. There are split year options that are compatible with academic calendars and visa processes as well. Prior to the beginning of the semester, the program organizes an orientation session. In addition to practical and academic aspects, students will attend lectures on present-day Spain and a writing workshop. Cultural activities and meeting Spanish students also form part of the orientation. The program is committed to help students make the best and most of their stay in Madrid, placing great emphasis on linguistic, academic and cultural integration. Ana Flys Junquera is the program resident director. She is assisted by Miky de Miguel, the housing coordinator. Together they oversee all program aspects in both universities in Madrid and work closely with their colleagues at the Office of International Programs. The program is a member of the Association of North American programs in Spain.
